Lighting Boom Counter Weights

Anyone who uses a boom to position lights will understand the importance of a counter weight to prevent things falling to earth.

In the studio I utilise ankle weights which are used during exercise. They are accessible and relatively inexpensive. They can be used to slide and and down the boom to achieve balance or hung from the end.
I’ve added a length of paracord for ease of handling and hazard tape for visibility.

Ankle weights may be purchased online from Amazon, Ebay and many high street sports stores for less than £10.00 a pair, depending on weight & quality. The pair I use state 6kg, in fact each weight is 3kg.

That's it for now. Happy Christmas 🎅
