CamKarts Rolling Off-Road Camera Case

Another step closer for Paul Slater Saban's CamKart - nearly there!

Paul Saban with two of the working prototype CamKarts out on the South Downs near Brighton

Recently I spent a day with Paul field testing on the South Downs in not so Sunny Sussex - yep, CamKart is most definitely the off-road 4x4 of rolling camera cases. Weatherproof with an interior which will take a Lowepro Magnum 400AW camera bag - there's the facility to carry a tripod and/or light stand(s).

I like this feature, somewhere to dump stuff when working, plus you can keep gear close to hand!

The top folds out to make a useable work platform and I worked out how to use a paint pole with The SPIG to adapt as a light stand!

The accessory plate on the T-handle is idea for mounting a camera ball head

On the handle there's a plate to take accessories or clamp stuff. The 12" foam filled wheels make it easy to pull - 6kg effort for a 40kg load. We pulled the CamKarts over the craggy tracks & paths with deep ruts and sharp flints which are characteristic of the area with no issues 😊

- we also carried a camera tripod & 120cm octa soft box to the location to create these images

If you'd like more information on CamKarts contact Paul Saban by email to express your interest or even place a pre-order. I've heard a rumour there will be a pre-order deal which has yet to be confirmed.

That's it for now and don't forget if you really enjoy lighting to visit and join The LIGHT Side - a place to learn, be mentored, nurtured and learn about lighting, lighting and photography, whatever your level or experience.

My thanks to Yang Wu, Ling Tan & team at Pixapro for providing such great service. If you're in the UK do support them as they do offer a 2 year warranty on their products and it really does save a pile of hassle by not dealing with a overseas supplier of potentially unknown provenance who may not be there when you need them . . .

Soon there will be workshops for both off camera flash & studio flash soon - keep an eye on my social media channels for more information.
