Lighting for close up photography with the Ianiro Pocket LED FS-LD 162
The Ianiro Pocket LED FS-LD 162 is one of the new small panel LED lights that all photographers should have as part of their lighting kit, it's bright, bi-colour with a colour temperature range from 3500K to 5700K adjustable in 100K increments. Output is 15W (equivalent to approx. 150W filament bulb) with a CRI of ≥96.
It's relatively inexpensive as it doesn't have facilities such as RGB colours, fancy lighting FX or act as a power bank. It fixes to standard lighting grip by means of two female 1/4 inch 20 TPI threads. In the UK it's available from NAM Grip for £59.00. It will run for 1 hour at full poweer and takes 3 hours to charge from a standard USB charger via the supplied USB-C lead.
Today I want to show how a small panel LED light 3 x 5 inches can be used for close-up and macro photography.

Yes, that's right, I'm using a continuous light to fill the shadows created from a gobo'd flash light source. The shutter speed controls the ambient light and the Ianiro Pocket LED FS-LD 162 at 50% output in this scenario equalled my flash shutter speed.

With an understanding of exposure, it is possible to combine flash and continuous lights.
